Official: Energy minister pledges to cut farmers' energy tariffs

MOSCOW, Apr 22 (PRIME) -- Energy Minister Alexander Novak agreed to consider electric power tariffs for agricultural companies that complain that they pay more than other companies, Sergei Neverov, chairman of the United Russia party faction in the State Duma, told reporters on Wednesday.

"We have to sit down and come to an agreement what we have to do. Our agricultural producers ask why they have to pay one and a half times or two times more?” Neverov said.

“We have an order of the president after a State Council meeting on December 26, the deadline for fulfillment is March 31. You reported on March 26 but nothing has changed for agricultural producers in fact."

He also said that Russia has to abolish obligatory advanced payments for electricity to protect small and medium business that were affected most by the coronavirus. Neverov added that the farmers have complained about a sharp propane price rise.
